Happy Birthday Maliyah! - A Cake Smash Session at Vasona Park

Oh this session was so much fun! Jenn contacted me to do Maliyah's cake smash for her first birthday, and it was fantastic! I think you can tell from the pictures that she certainly LOVED digging into her very own cake, and who could blame her?!

Thanks for such a fun session, Rex, Jenn, & Maliyah! And Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

Bucheru Family - Family Photos - Vasona Lake

You may recognize these cheeks since they've made their way on my blog several times! (here & here!) Lucky me!

Watching Adriana grow into the smiley & sweet girl that she is has been such a blessing! And getting to know her family has been as well!

Thank you for such a fun session, Bucheru Family!

Sachlene & Manny - A Maternity Session at Vasona Park

Saschlene and Manny contacted me to take their maternity pictures, and as soon as I met them in person, I knew that we were going to get along great. It can be hard to invite a stranger to document an important part of your life, but they were so warm and kind that after our first meeting, I felt like I had known them forever!

We met at Vasona Park because you just cant go wrong there. It's always beautiful, particularly around this time of year when there are lovely fall colors! Despite them getting ready for their annual festival of lights & being incredibly crowded, we had an amazing session.

Oh, and they're pup Rusty? They told me that the magic words to get him to look at my camera were "Rusty, do you want to go on a walk?" They were magical indeed. Any time I uttered that sentence, he looked straight at me with these "Do you promise, you'll take me on a walk??" eyes. He fell for it every time, which had us cracking up! Rusty is going to be a great older brother in just a couple of weeks!

Happy Birthday, Rayley! A Cake Smash at Vasona Lake

Rayley is turning one this month, and we celebrated early with a super cute cake smash session! Of course we took advantage of the beautiful lake and got some family pictures before the smash began! Right before the sun went down, Jillian, Ray, & Doris pulled out the sweetest watermelon cake that I've ever seen!

Rayley was a little unsure of having an entire cake to herself at first, but after getting a couple of yummy tastes, she started digging right in!

A very Happy Birthday to this sweet & smiley girl!!!

Deborah & Marcos - Powell's Sweet Shoppe, Los Gatos - Maternity Photographs

Deborah & Marcos are native Brazilians who are here because Marcos is studying at Stanford GSB. (See the Stanford pride in their pictures!) They're waiting to bring their baby girl, Alice into the world in September, and the love and happiness that beams from them is undeniable. Deborah has the pregnancy glow that every woman dreams about, and it's so obvious that Marcos is head over heels in love with her and his baby girl who will be here shortly!

When Deborah contacted me for maternity pictures weeks ago, she asked if we could meet up before the session to get to know each other a little first. She was concerned about being "awkward" in front of the camera and wanted to break the ice ahead of time. (I would later learn that they were far from awkward in front of the camera, and actually true naturals!) I love meeting my clients before the actual session takes place, that way we already know each other on the big day! After meeting them, I knew right away that they were going to be a blast. We all just hit it off, walking the streets of Los Gatos throwing ideas around. And then on session day? Pssh, it was like we were old friends spending the evening together. Except I was behind a camera, toting a giant Radio Flyer wagon with all of my gear and all of the props. Close enough, though! ;)

Our first stop was Powell's Sweet Shoppe in Los Gatos which despite being incredibly crowded, it was the perfect setting for this couple's photos. Thank you, Powell's!

Every time I finish a session, I can't help but think how lucky I am. I'm constantly surrounded by people who are in love. People who are just beginning their love story, people who are vowing to stand by each other forever, people who are welcoming a child into their lives... and on and on. It's amazing to be surrounded by so much happiness and love. Thank you, Deborah & Marcos for such a wonderful session!
